Fiona Strens

Fiona is co-founder of Secure Futures.

Fiona established Secure Futures in 2008, having served, for 5 years with DS&S, as a strategy consultant to policy-makers and practitioners in Government departments and agencies, as well as to corporate boards in the defence and security sector. Her particular area of interest was the intersection between innovation, industry and government in the national security space.

Fiona conceived Secure Futures following a brief period as a director of London-based early stage investment firm Synergis Technologies where she assisted in developing the firm's understanding of the defence and security sector. She identified the clear need for innovators, investors and SMEs to connect better in the national interest to bring technologies and techniques into use with government departments and their industrial partners.

Prior to her consultancy career, Fiona worked at the Ministry of Defence for 11 years focusing primarily on policy and technology. She has a degree in Computer Sciences from Cambridge University.

Fiona is a non executive director of Cellcrypt Limited, a UK developer of innovative VOIP-based secure voice solutions for a range of mobile and fixed communications platforms.

Andrew Hegarty

Andrew is co-founder of Secure Futures.

Andrew helped establish Secure Futures in 2008, having served as a strategic and financial adviser to ultra high net worth individuals, family offices, niche institutions and companies large and small, for over 14 years.

Andrew began his career as a corporate financier in 1994 with HSBC Investment Bank, where he was involved in numerous public market transactions including IPOs, capital raisings, and wide-ranging M&A, as well as a range of private equity deals. Andrew left HSBC in 1999 to join Hanson Capital, a privately-owned investment and advisory firm, based in London and Los Angeles, which specialised in early-stage situations and principal investing.

In 2001, he joined Touchstone Securities, an independent advisory boutique, based in London, which provided high-level corporate finance and investing advice to large corporates, private families and institutions. In 2003, he was asked by one of his HNWI clients, to help form and develop P&P Partners, a single family office, where Andrew was engaged as Principal to manage private equity and direct investment.

After an aggressive period of investment with P&P Partners, Andrew joined Synergis Technologies, an early stage investment firm, in January 2007 as director, where he has had responsibility for developing strategy and, in particular, a national security investing capability. Andrew also acts as a non-executive director on a number of portfolio companies, owned by Synergis and/or its parent company, Porton Capital.

Andrew has a degree in Business and Management Administration from Aston University in the UK.
